So this is what I want your ideas for:
It's a fairly small tray, sorry I don't have measurements for you, but as long as you know it's not huge you'll probably have a good idea. :P
What would you do with it? I want to know!

Hello, your tray is very cute, why dont you try to paint it, I mean Folk art, or just one stroke painting, called decorative painting.. And if you use Acrylic paints, and after fininshing seal it with sealer... Another option is Decoupage, with mod podge... decoupage is an interesting medium, and I am sure you will love it ...

I've seen one before where they had stained it, and then did a mosaic design on the inside! It was very cute, and you can do it any style you want when you do your own mosaic!
ReplyDeleteYou say it isn't huge? Then i would mozaic it. I would use a tea cup image and fill with pieces from a broken or old, chipped cup.
ReplyDeleteI think I would Mod Podge some pretty scrapbook paper or wrapping paper in the tray area and then paint the handles a matching color.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the suggestions of painting, scrapbook paper etc, and something I want to try but haven't yet, is getting a piece of glass plexi glass cut to fit and putting things underneath that you can change out like photos, postcards etc.

ReplyDeleteI've seen some decoupaged wood lately that has been beautiful. I'm also into painting things yellows, aquas, oranges these days, distressing, and then putting on a glaze. Then you could stack books and an old glass milk bottle with flowers. Here's a pedestal bowl I painted yellow:

ReplyDeleteI love the decoupage idea. There are some gorgeous free graphics and items you can pick from at either Graphics Fairy or Vintage Printable. Bookmark these sites because you'll probably want to refer back to them often!
I am a stencil artist and love the stencilled look because you can do so much with them and totally customize your colors and look. If you need stencil ideas check out www.royaldesignstudio.com. Melanie has some great stencils and some great inspiration ideas on creative ways to use stencils. Stencil Ease has some affordable stencils so google them to check them out. If you have a Cricut you can make your own stencils from images found on the internet. I don't have a Cricut yet, but it is on my wish list.

ReplyDeleteAnother idea. You could paint it a neutral color that goes with many things and then decorate it for many occassions. For example, since it is summer you could fill it with some sand and decorate with some sea shells and a few votives. For fall you could buy some fake (or real) fall leaves and then add some miniature pumpkins. For Christmas, pretty ornaments and pinecones. You get the idea. That way, you aren't stuck with one idea and can change it out with the seasons or holidays.
