I had mentioned a while back that I agreed to make my sister's wedding cake. The first thing I did was buy a set of pans (at Michaels, with my 40% off coupon).
Now we're considering how big of a cake she should have. I threw some "prototypes" together so that we could get an idea...
I intend to make some sort of sugary topper ahead of time, but to get an idea for these pictures I just threw on a paper flower bouquet I had lying around.
Standard 3 tier cake - lots of cake!!
Bottom 2 tiers - less cake. I think it looks a little stumpy.
My personal favorite - the top 2 tiers on a pretty glass cake plate.
What do you think? Which is your favorite look?
I love the one on the stand! If you need a serving guide, I use the one found here to give me some sort of idea of how many servings you will get from cake: http://www.earlenescakes.com/ckserchart.htm
