What The Heck Wednesday!

Alright, so this is the last WTHW for JULY!!!  Normally I'd give you until about Friday to add your suggestions, and then draw for the prize on Saturday, but this weekend I have my family reunion, so you'll have until sometime on Monday to comment, and then I'll be drawing *hopefully* on Monday night (August 2).

I've been adding to the possible prize options so make sure to check out the pictures on the WTHW page.

 Now for this week's item....*drumroll*

OLD CDS

I'm sure I'm not the only one with millions of these kicking around. I have about 22 of them, some are the clear parts that come on top and the bottom of the spindle when you buy a stack, and some of them have a shiny blue side.

I can't wait to hear all your great ideas!  I'm always amazed at the creativity and it really does inspire me to be more creative too.

Last chance to win July's prize:

For each comment with a suggestion of what to make with these you'll be entered to win!!  (1 suggestion per comment so that you can get multiple entries)

Become a follower for an extra chance to win & leave a comment to let me know (or remind me if you're already a follower!)

Be sure to check out the Wednesday parties that I"m linking up to on the Link Parties page!

  1. Smash them with a hammer, then mosaic a picture frame (I know you've already done this), or mirror.

  2. "Smash it with a hammer!" and then make mosaic coasters!!!! They would make a fabulous gift :) Or if you were very ambitious you could re-do an old side table table top in a mosaic.

  3. In a shadow box or frame of some kind layer the cds so only half show and make a piece of reflective art that looks similar to the Cullen's wall art of mortar boards (twilight movie #1). To add drama you could draw/stencil on the Cds first (in sharpie-love sharpie) and then layer the cds!

  4. Thank you for commenting on my light pollution post. You might enjoy the 3 videos that I made on the subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoVD1nIzfoU

    CDs:
I used them to make this Valentine's Day wreath http://textiles4you.blogspot.com/2010/02/eco-valentines-day-wreath.html

I made this ornament out of a clear cd: http://textiles4you.blogspot.com/2010/01/holiday-trash-bash-challenge.html

I also use the bad ones as coasters.

  5. I actually made a craft using old Cd's. Check out my blog terelauritsen.blogspot.com and click on CD Magnets/Father's Day gift.

  6. A common, not so artsy, use for old CD's is to make a learning spindle. All you need is a CD, a pencil or dowel, and some clay to keep the two together.

  7. Thanks so much for leaving such a sweet comment on my guest post over at Tatertots & Jello!

I've actually made a mini album from old cd's before.

  8. I've also made wall hangings from old cds (tied together with ribbon). One was a calendar and the other was a recipe display. :)
