Sunshine & Hot Chocolate Party

The Canadian prairies were plunged into a deep freeze just a week or so ago, and it was unbearable!  We've had such a mild winter lately that these frigid temperatures were a bit extreme.  Like -40 (Celsius, or Fahrenheit, it's all the same!) and those of you who know what cold is, that was just the temperature NOT including the wind chill!  Day time highs of -28C (-18F) = freaking cold!

So my friend Megan decided we should have a Sunshine & Hot Chocolate party.  Aka make hot chocolate and watch Little Miss Sunshine (which I had not yet seen.)  Because Amy's cat had recently had kittens, we decided to have the party at her house!

Now that the party was going to be at Amy's, she and I kind of "party-jacked" the whole idea...which was originally Megan's.

We went all out for "just" a movie night.

Hot chocolate fixin's, cookies, lemon bars, angel food cake, popcorn...!

If you haven't guessed by now, Amy and I LOVE throwing parties.  One day she sent me a picture of this table cloth on my phone and asked "too much?"  and the first thing I thought was "It's PERFECT!"

Lemonade (nice to have something not quite as sweet!)

The most incredible cookies I have ever seen! Megan of course made these - she's so amazing!! She actually hand cut all the cookies AND piped all the detail - by hand!! WOW! They were tasty too!

  1. A hot chocolate party - what a great idea! Not that we'd appreciate it quite so much out here in Ontario (they're calling for above zero again this week!)... Love, love, love the cookies! Incredible!
