Meet Amanda.
She's the driving force behind the Think Pink crop that I've been talking about for these last couple posts. Looking at this picture of her now you'd never know she had breast cancer. But she did, she fought, and she won. And she continues to fight for all those who might be going down the same path she did, and for those whose journeys had a different end.
Amanda did both a make and take and a layout class.
This is the card she helped us make.
The focus of this class was to remind us of lost techniques like creating your own patterned paper from scraps (enviro-crafty for sure!)
First we stamped our license plates & the word HUGS and cut them out. Using a black pen we traced around them on the black card stock.
Then we adhered our patterned paper scraps to the card between the outer edge and the line we drew around the license plate, overlapping it a little.
Next we roughed up the patterned paper with a sanding block and inked it a little to add some character.
We attached the license plate to the front of the card with pop dots.
To finish it off, we made another license plate for the inside, with your choice of KISSES or PRAYERS. HUGS and PRAYERS comes from Amanda's personal blog about her journey; it is her personal signature.
Ta DA!!!
Amanda chose this project because when she was sick she really appreciated getting cards from friends and family, but much prefered the uplifting ones (ya know stuff like: you can do it, keep fighting, sending lots of love) as opposed to the "downer" cards ("sorry to hear you're sick", etc.). I love having extra cards on hand, you never know when you just might need them!
Stay tuned to see what Amanda created for the wicked layout class!!
I like that idea of words on a license plate because I'm fascinated by how ingenious people can be with those. Those cards would be fun to make and also to receive.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat great techniques to remember. Love the license plate idea. Thanks for linking up to Scrappy Saturdays!
