A couple of the guys I work with at work both had babies within the last little while. My mom used to make the best baby blankets ever, so I decided to give it a try.
They're crohooked blankets. What's crohooking? It's double ended crochet. In my opinion, I think this is actually EASIER than crocheting!
When googling "crohook" I actually found the pattern for the blankets I made (surprising, because it's from 1973...which may or may not have been a while before I was born...)
I made the patticake blanket pictured on the right hand side. When my mom used to make these, she did them with blue and pink yarn, as shown on the front of the pattern.
I decided to update the look and picked more neutral colors (I started these before I either baby was born, and I didn't know anything about the nursery decor or sex of the baby!)
I went with Linen 2332 and Light Thyme 7898 (which looks absolutely nothing like the color on the website - below)
For 2 blankets, 3 skeins (312yds/285m each) was the right amount!
Both babies came for a visit at work a couple weeks ago - they were both so cute! Landen had just reached 2 months and is such an adorable chubster and Hayden is almost exactly a month younger and is very LONG and beautiful - she was sleeping and making the cutest Zoolander "blue steel" face!
