White bandanas. I have 6 of them. I used to teach a recreational dance program and picked these up from the dollarstore for kids who didn't have them. But then I ended up stuck with all these! They're 100% cotton, and about 22" square.

You can always make pouches out of them (project bags, sandwich bags).
ReplyDeleteThey would make a very nifty strappy top when placed on the bias.
ReplyDeleteSeveral squares can be used to make a hippie skirt. And since they are cotton, they can be dyed.
ReplyDeleteSince I am obsessed with this trend, I would make fabric rosettes out of the bandanas and afix them to lamps. The black and white would make a gorgeous pattern-very Alice in Wonderland "painting the roses red".
ReplyDeleteMake a no sew pillow, by cutting slits around the edges of 2 bandanas about 3 inches deep and a few inches apart. Put one bandana on either side of the pillow and tie the fabric strips together in double knots, creating a fringe around the edge and securing the pillow form inside. Cheap easy and disposable when you're over it.

oooooh, a backpack! I need to get the pattern but it was one of the projects the Girl Guides/Scouts made at the international camp held in Guelph Ontario Canada this July! Backpacks made out of bandanas! That's what I'd do!

ReplyDeleteRemember like two years ago when wearing a bandana rolled up got uber trendy (highschool kids are still doing it). I would do a re-style and cover a little mini head band with it. Then cut and hem (or use the nofray glue) a strip ribbon size and tie it into a bow. Hot glue gun that baby on to your headband.
ReplyDeleteI would make some accessories. I've seen a tutorial for mod-podging shoes! And you could make some fabric bracelets and a headband and be so coordinating :)
